this amount of likes on this barely coherent thread just speaks to the amount of people who want their own form of “cultural degeneracy” to handwring over. the op has even got it right down to assigning corruptive influence to children’s cartoons and YA novels (something right wingers have spent decades frothing over, especially in the 2010s). fascists have concepts of things like sex and “love”, but they’re entirely subordinated to order, and thus are regimented as violence to maintain that order. sex exists as a tool to reify social relations to them, which is why victims of fascist violence are often humiliated sexually, and why participants of fascist ideology engage in bizarre psychosexual rituals to exhibit their fidelity to their beliefs. what interest would these people have in decadent “cozy media”? this person is trying to conflate their personal distaste with real world issues to a bizarre degree.
there are grievances I have with adults who only desire the flat, formulaic content that consists most YA media and animation, but being sex negative isn’t one of them. the thing that throws me through the loop about this whole perspective is that adults who like YA novels and cartoons typically aren’t sex negative at all. if the ceaseless existence of the proship/anti debate is any evidence, they’re probably more likely to use the media they consume as vectors to express their sexuality- as opposed to merely insulating within it’s g-rated walls. so what is any of this about, other than assigning a moral value to cringe (perceived or otherwise). I don’t even get what op thinks they’re talking about when referencing neoliberalism. adorno brained.
I think we need more radical acceptance that some people dislike us for reasons that make sense for their life experience. and we need to do this in a way that doesn’t paint us as misunderstood victims because the fact of the matter is everyone is annoying to someone. you can’t avoid that. and if someone is annoyed by you they aren’t wrong about you being annoying and unlikable to them. the sooner we accept this the sooner we accept ourselves. we don’t even like ourselves most of the time so why should we expect other people to uncritically enjoy every aspect of us regardless of our own internal struggle with our own extreme contrasts

sometimes fashion bloggers seem overly dramatic on this app but once you follow enough of them and start getting to see the shit they are constantly embroiled in you realize they are out here fighting for their lives. a lot of them are not just plumbing the vile depths of uncredited Pinterest boards but physically scanning magazines by hand, and half of them are just stealing posts from the other half (not reblogging, outright downloading and reposting) and for absolutely zero material benefit whatsoever. all of them are anonymous so they don’t even get clout. they’re constantly being undeservedly banned or having posts censored because Tumblr staff doesn’t understand the difference between porn and a fashion editorial. they are truly some of the hardest posters on this site. in it purely for the love of the game

so many professors have thee worst fucking complex about their jobs bc they have fully bought into the fantasy of the university as some kind of noble enlightening force and this is often why they’re such cunts to undergrads lmao. condescending to students, refusing to take late work, acting like they’re teaching some grand life lesson by failing students who will now have to pay more tuition to make it up. and half the professors aren’t even good teachers because it’s not even what they wanted to be doing as a career; they’re just researchers with a nasty attitude. you can often see this outright glee pervading posts they make on social media for example, bemoaning, like, the fact that student no. 8474 didn’t care about the topic of today’s lecture and is only here to get a degree. and it’s like uh yeah, you work at the class barriers degree institution lmfao. like these people truly think they’re god’s gift to The Youth and that they’re performing some kind of essential social service by enforcing cultural hegemony and class division. and btw when grad TAs have this attitude all of the above applies and also they’re class traitors lmfao
